For starters, I just want to let you all know that I love you all very much and am so grateful that you all take the time to read my letters. I hope that this week has been a wonderful and successful one and that everyone is doing well!
This week in Tumbes has really been a great one. We're still trying to get used to the fact that it's November already and that the summer here in Tumbes is just about to begin...but we're grateful for all the cloudy weather that we've been seeing here the last couple of days!
Our wonderful investigator Hermana Rosa is doing really well, and even though she wasn't able to come to church yesterday, she's been participating in a Relief Society activity that they're doing in our ward right now and she seems to be really enjoying it. I'm so grateful for all the help that the sisters in the Relief Society have been giving us in helping Hermana Rosa...there willingness to visit her with us as well as invite her to the activities and sit with her at church (sometimes even without us asking) has been really key in her progression! Hopefully we'll be seeing a baptism before the end of this month!
To be honest, there's not a whole lot that happened this week that is extremely exciting...we're working hard every day and trying as a companionship to really step out of our comfort zones in contacting and knocking doors. We've been doing quite a bit of that lately, and even though it hasn't been extremely successful in finding people that are going to progress, we've been able to plant quite a few seeds that hopefully will someday lead to another opportunity!
One day this week we were knocking doors in the morning (all of our appointments had fallen through...pretty typical for the mornings here) when we decided to visit a less active that we've been working with. He wasn't there, but we were able to talk to his wife (she's extremely active, even though her husband isn't) and she told us that her brother in law had recently come home from a month and a half in the hospital and that he had started receiving some missionaries from another church, and she thought that maybe this could be our time to get to him. So she took us to his house and introduced us, and he invited us in to share a quick message with him. It was really need to see how humble he was about everything, and having the Hermana Izabel with us was a really neat thing. She was able to bear a powerful testimony at the end of the lesson that left all of us reflecting. It was amazing.
This week, I'd like to invite each of you to pray for missionary experiences. Then, as you reflect, if someone comes to your mind...act on that thought! It's called revelation! I know that every one of us has opportunities to share the gospel, but sometimes we need the Lord's help to recognize them. I testify that there is truly a difference in the conversion process of a person who has the support of the members and a person who's only being taught by the missionaries! YOU can make a difference in someone's salvation...don't let the opportunity pass you by.
Love you all! I hope you have a great, safe week!
Love,
Hermana Garner
