The Wonders of Christmas

Dear family and friends,

I hope you all passed a wonderful Christmas this last week and that a midst all the presents and fun and family that you were able to remember the man that brought about this wonderful celebration!

This last week was a really wonderful one for me. On Monday night, our zone and another zone that's really close to us went to the mall nearby and we sang Christmas carols and contacted tons of people. It was super funny because one of the elders dressed up as Santa Claus and took pictures with a ton of little kids. It was a really neat activity and ended up being super successful! We came out with a ton of referrals and President Rowley, Sister Rowley and a couple of their kids (that were here visiting for Christmas) even came and joined in the chorus. It was really neat.

Then, on Tuesday we had our Multizone conference with President Rowley and also our Christmas celebration. The morning started out with a super spiritual conference centered on the Plan of Salvation and how it applies to Christmas time and the families that we're teaching. I had the opportunity to give one of those 5 minute talk things that we have to prepare for pretty much every meeting we have with President Rowley, and even though that's always kind of scary, I think it turned out well because he quoted me a little bit later in the conference, so I'm just super grateful that the Spirit was there to help me out!

After the spiritual part of the conference, we went and ate lunch from Norky's with President and played a few Christmas games, including BINGO! and then took pictures and went out to work!

On Wednesday we worked hard, just like normal in the morning and in the afternoon we went to a bunch of different members houses and shared a message about the Family Proclamation and Christmastime. It was really a neat time and we had some really powerful experiences. Then we went back to our house and had the Christmas Eve dinner with the family that lives on the first floor of our house. It was SO hard to eat that dinner because literally EVERYONE had already given us tons of food, but it was really fun and a neat time to be there with them. I'm so grateful for this super wonderful ward!

On Christmas morning my companion and I woke up, prayed and opened our presents!! It was super fun...and thank you SO much mom for the presents! Even though it was simple, it made it feel like it was actually Christmas and not just any other day. My favorite present was definitely the nerf guns! We went and got together with our district a little bit later in the morning (after studying) and we had a good time playing with the nerf guns and the cards that my mom sent. THANKS MOM!!!

In the afternoon, we had to catch up on a bit of the training program for my companion (there have been so many conferences and things in the morning lately we'd gotten a little bit behind), then talked to the family, then went and visited a couple more member families. All in all, a wonderful Christmas and one that I'll certainly never forget! There's a Spirit so unique in the mission that just makes everything so powerful. I love my Savior Jesus Christ and I'm so grateful for this marvelous time of year!

On Friday we had a visit from the Sister leaders in our weekly planning...talk about stressful! My poor companion was super nervous and hardly talked at all, but we got through it. In the afternoon we went out with a super sweet laurel in our ward named Josmira and were able to contact and have a lesson with her friend and her mom and it was really neat! I know that without her there we wouldn't have been able to get into their house, so I'm super grateful for the power of her as a member and her willingness to go out with us!

The rest of the weekend went well, and in church on Sunday we had a couple of new investigators go, so that was neat too :) We also found out that next year we'll be meeting during the 10 o'clock schedule, which will be super different...first time in the mission at 10 o'clock church! Should be interesting.

I love you all a ton and hope that you're all having a wonderful last week of 2014! Don't forget to make your new year's resolutions...but make sure they're something you'll actually DO this year!! ;)

Love,

Hermana Garner
