Adios Sullana, Hola Tumbes!!!

Hola mis queridos amigos y familia!

Wow what a week this has been! So much has happened and it's really been such a neat time.

As the title states, the Lord has called me in this time to leave Sullana and head all the way up to the border of Peru in Tumbes!! But more on that a little later.

Anyways...this week really has been great. Hermana Rios started cooking her own food for lunch so she hasn't felt as sick, which has been awesome because she's had a lot more energy and it's been so much less stressful. It also meant that we were able to eat in our apartment this week in the peace and quiet and comfort of our own little home :) AAAnnndd it was helpful because our pensionista wasn't there so I didn't feel quite so pressured to eat the monton of food that she gives us, and I was able to save a little bit for dinner too haha.

On Monday, we found out that one of our menos activos--Carmita--(pretty sure I've talked about her before, but not sure) anyways she found out that she has a tumor. It was really rough for her to accept and even more so because she doesn't have a whole ton of support from her boyfriend/husband nor from his family (they live in the same house). But it was so neat because on Monday night we hadn't planned to go to her house but we both felt impressed to go and when we got there she started crying because she was in so much pain and so miserable. It was so inspired that we went to visit her. I'm so grateful that we followed those impressions. Also, after she went to the doctor, he gave her these liquids for shots that she needed to get, but she didn't have the money to go anywhere to get the shots put in. Thankfully one of the ward missionaries is studying medicine and was able to come with us to visit her and help her get her shots taken care of.

On Thursday it was a day full of food! We went to visit Ana Belen and her dad and found out that it was his birthday, so he gave us cake! Then we went to visit Hermana Norma and she was making chaufa and empanadas for Elder Casimiro for his birthday, and she gave us some when we left (mmmmm the empanadas were SO good.), then later we went to a FHE to celebrate Elder Casimiro's Birthday, and they gave us dinner AND cake. It was kind of the best haha.

But aside from the food, it helped us see (especially with Hermana Norma) that we're gaining a lot of confidence with her. Also it was really neat because she's started to open up a lot more with us lately...sharing more of her spiritual experiences and thoughts with us. It's been really wonderful to see the change.

On Friday, we had an activity for Father's day! We did a little act with the elders where we put on music and had Elder Miranda pretend to dance (but he didn't actually, just made movements that looked like he was dancing) and then we showed the missionary handbook (because there's a rule that we can't dance) and the rest of us (elder lauder, hermana rios and I) turned around with our papers that said that missionaries don't dance! It was really funny and even though my paper ended up being upside down, the people laughed so it was all good :)

Saturday was stressful stressing about cambios, but we made it through, and that night they told us that I would be leaving, but they didn't know where I'd be going or with who. Today I travelled to Piura and we had a cambio meeting where Presidente told us who our companions would be and where we'd be going. Hermana Stringham is now going to be hermana Rios's new companion, and I'm here in Tumbes (a 5 hour trip from Piura) with Hermana Cisneros who's from Ecuador. We got here super late and Pday is about to end and still haven't gone to get food, so better sign out. Hope you all have a wonderful week!! Love you all!

Love,
